Summer Stories TN {Pt. 1}

For the past few years I've made a mini album that focuses on some of our summer activities. Even though I have an everyday album that I keep up on, I don't mind having the same events in two places. Not everything will be in both albums and I try to vary the photos if I'm recording the same story.

This year I'm using a Traveler's Notebook insert and will document our summer activities for the next 4-6 weeks. I decorated the cover first by stamping on it, then layering die cuts and adding glittery gold Thickers, thread, and enamel dots.

The summer will no doubt fly by, but I'm hoping to soak up as much of it as I can. My list of things to do is a mix of relaxing and adventuring, and of course there will be enjoying many summer sweet treats.

Using digital labels, I typed on them and then printed and cut them apart. It took much longer to arrange them so they all fit. Then I had to remove them all because I wanted a little stamping on the background (which got washed out on brightening my photo). Once the labels were adhered into place, I wanted a little something to go on top and found the perfect size alphabet stickers.

Our first outing found us picking strawberries after a nice lunch outside at a local restaurant. After we dropped our berries safely off at home, we drove out to the arboretum. There's a large ginkgo grove that we had yet to explore and are looking forward to seeing it in its golden glory in the fall.

I had a couple of mishaps putting this page together and those little accidents determined where my embellishments went. I managed to get ink smears around my title, so the little die cuts worked to cover up the worst of it. Then I got roller adhesive on the right page, so that was the perfect place for the photo of the hubs getting ready to pluck a strawberry.

Since there was no journaling yet, I wanted to make sure I had room to include it on the second part of our outing. My initial thought was to type it directly onto the patterned paper, but I was worried it wouldn't fit well, so back to the computer I went. I stamped and die cut the tickets and leaves and then finished it off with little enamel triangles and the date.

Hope your summer is filled with lots of sunshine and happy moments!
