Ongoing Adventures

I had no intention of letting my blogging get pushed to the side, but things seem to have gotten quite busy around here. Next time I won't try to give the shop a complete overhaul, bring in new products, go on vacation, and buy a new (to us) house. Eep!

Before September got off to the whirlwind that it did, I began working on a new memory keeping project to continue telling our stories since I no longer document using the Project Life style. Having enjoyed my Summer Stories Traveler's Notebook so much, I decided I would start a new notebook all about adventures. I'll include things like our mini road trips, food discoveries, and quotes. Words like adventure, journey, and exploration are open to many different interpretations, so the stories that can be included are pretty limitless.

This time I did experiment with decorating the cover and stamped all over it and then heat embossed the images with clear embossing powder. I began to get anxious that the VersaMark would dry before I could complete all of the stamping and things got a little messy towards the end.

My first story is about a drive we took to Shenandoah National Park to do some hiking. We usually leave this trip until the fall once the leaves have begun to change, so you might see more pages in the future.

For the first page, I kept it very simple with a full page photo embellished with a piece of typography that I created and then die cut into a circle.

Next I printed two smaller photos about 3x3 and added some stamping. On the facing page, I printed off a trail map from the park's website and shaded it in using Distress Inks. I used a stamp to highlight where on the map we were and then stamped journaling lines to include my writing.

For the last pages I included a full page stamped quote and another full page photo. I don't often use word and phrase stickers, but since there are a couple sheets I haven't been able to let go of, I figured this would be a good place to use some.

I hope you'll stay tuned, because on Thursday I've got some very exciting news to share! See you then!

  1. I love everything about this!! You have such a knack for travelers journals. Did you do this when you were actually traveling or did you wait until you got him?

    1. Thank you so much, Jessica! I wait until I get home. When I travel, the most I'll bring with me is a notebook to write down my thoughts and to hold memorabilia in. :)
