UAE Travel Mini Album {Part One}

For what felt like the bazillionth time, I flipped through my assembled kit and tried to work on the photos from our trip to Abu Dhabi from last year. I had made a title page last year and then got a few more layouts done some weeks ago, but I just wasn't happy with how things were (not) coming together.

Wanting to get my photos and memories into an album, I realized that the album was part of the problem. I had intended for the pages to go into my chronological album but wasn't feeling inspired by my supplies or the completed pages. I've not done this before, but I took apart the 3 layouts I'd made and created a new cover page. You know what, I was immediately motivated and felt things clicking right away. Using a mix of 6x8 pages and pocket pages, I placed all of my photos into a new album. I also selected several older cards from various mini kits and slid them into pockets. I haven't had much chance to work on it since this revelation, but I'm excited for the next opportunity that I get.

My title page was inspired in part from this travel mini made by Kelly Purkey. Using the 6x8 album, I found it much easier to incorporate memorabilia into my album and for some larger brochures, I could simply hole punch them and add them between my pages.

These next photos had layouts previously made, but I had been pretty unhappy with them and never shared them. Scaling them down in size, I removed a couple of the elements I'd previously used, while still being able to salvage some of the others.

Last up is a layout I was happy with, but had to dismantle. I had shared the original version here, but I was pleased that I could keep the overall page design in the new, smaller size.

My journaling will be added after everything is in place. I'm toying with the idea of writing it all by hand instead of my usual type and print. We'll see if I change my mind on that as well. ;)

Hope to see you back here on Sunday because there's a shop update at 8am EDT with five fun new mini flair sets as well as an awesome stamp set featuring a sassy hippo that has stolen the hearts of many, myself included.
