Project Life {March 2016}

Lately I've been trying to make my projects come together more quickly by starting with a sketch I've drawn out. Since I was working with a digital kit, I decided I'd take my sketch a little further and map everything out in PSE before printing anything.

Once I was happy with my choices, I used an 8x10 canvas and inserted my patterns and elements onto it and was able to easily print just the supplies I needed. Then I printed off my sheet of title cards and sheet of journaling cards.

I was moving quite quickly until having laid everything out, I felt like something was missing. The squares of just patterned paper had me feeling like they needed a little finishing touch. I tried adding small layers of other patterns. I tried adding a little sewing for texture. I tried printing off additional embellishments. Nothing was working and I'd spent way too much time on it.

After taking a break, I came back to my pages and decided to add small puffy gold plus signs to my journaling cards. In the end I felt like adding anything to the patterned paper squares was competing with the page as a whole. Even though I was using plenty of white cardstock, all of the white squares had something on them. So in the end, the patterns became the white space that your eyes could land on and not feel overwhelmed. At least that's how it went down in my head. :)

Be sure to head over to the One Little Bird blog to see more inspiration and ideas from the Creative Team using old and new collections. Hope you have a wonderful weekend ahead!
