My Thankful 30 {2015} Days 11-15

I was in a bit of a crafty funk and hadn't worked on my mini album for several days, but I made some progress with getting photos ready, pages made, and some journaling in place. I have no doubt I'll get back on track, but sometimes you just need to take a break from it all. ;)

I realized I hadn't done any stamping in my mini, so I rectified that for day 11 and created a background by using one stamp in a repeating pattern with a warm yellow ink. I didn't take the time to draw lines prior to stamping and so you can see that once I got to the top, my stamped images got a little skewed. oops! For day 12, I used non-traditional fall colors to match my photo.

On my page for day 13, I had encountered a small hiccup with the die cut I was going to use, but in the end, the red "favorite" tag was the perfect complement for my coffee love. For day 14, I once again used patterned paper cut into a triangle to cover half of my page. I really like the look of it and could definitely see myself making a mini with all of the pages like that.

Once again breaking into my stamp collection, I used a couple of sets to add a subtle design and also make a little die cut for day 15. I stamped everything on a scrap piece of paper to make sure I liked what I had conjured in my mind and then recreated it onto my actual page.

Like I mentioned above, I finally added my journaling for the first 12 days. Using Photoshop Elements, I created text boxes that were roughly 2x3 and typed in my journaling. Once it was printed, I cut it apart, and adhered it to the back of each corresponding page.

Just to give you a heads up, I won't be holding any sales over the course of the weekend. Instead there will be a year-end sale taking place December 7-10 and ALL of Brandi's retired flair will be back in stock for one last hurrah. There will also be a couple of other surprises, so be sure to mark your calendar!

For those of you that celebrate Thanksgiving, I hope you have a wonderful holiday, filled with much laughter, love, and good food!

This December

When I sat down with my kit, I wasn't sure what I wanted to create because the ideas kept coming. I thought about making a Christmas past and present spread using a very old family photo and then leaving space for one taken this year. I also thought about making a layout using an adorable photo I took of my parents last year. I'll most likely still create both of those projects, but in the end I decided to make an introduction to my December Daily album.

Since my title page was already made, I had the back of the page protector to fill and decided to write about my thoughts about what this December will be bringing. Using the adorable snowman paper from the kit, I printed my journaling onto the page and then added my title and a few die cut snowflakes.

If you haven't already, head over to Brandi's blog to see the pages she's created. We hope you enjoy creating with this kit as much as we enjoyed making it, so please share your projects with us, we'd love to see them!

My Thankful 30 {2015} Days 6-10

I was able to carve out a little crafty time and got my mini album up to date. Those of you that have frequented my blog might have noticed that this album is quite a bit simpler than my usual style. There are two reasons for that. First is that I have noticed that my style has been shifting and while I still love to use plenty of patterned paper and fun bits and pieces, I've definitely been taking a less is more approach. Second, I want to be sure that I keep this project manageable. Since I'll once again be creating a daily album in December, it's important to me to have this album finished right after November ends.

For days 6 and 7 I used inspiration from my photos to determine how I would embellish my pages. My day 7 photo printed darker than intended, so I might reprint the original color version since you can't make out the bookshelves.

I've really been trying to find ways to incorporate enamel dots onto projects and am no longer allowed to buy any more since I don't think I've ever used up an entire pack. So on day 8 I was able to add a few glitzy gold dots.

Day 9 I used some more leaves that were cut with my Sizzix. I felt that the page needed just a little something and so added some thread nests to a couple of the leaves.

For day 10 it may seem a little odd to be thankful for The Walking Dead. It's not so much the TV show, but the fact that my sister and I watch it at the same time while chatting on FaceTime. And of course I used the acorn paper because we're a couple of nuts. ;)

My Thankful 30 {2015} Days 1-5

As soon as I figured out the album for my mini, it was just a matter of finding the time to begin working on my pages. I had thought I'd pick up one of those cute WRMK 4x4 albums, but honestly, I didn't want to wait for it to be shipped.

Instead I decided to make my own and remembered a recent mini album I'd seen Brandi use and was intrigued by the style. I cut some chipboard for the album construction and used Mod Podge to adhere patterned paper to the cover and then embellished it.

For my pages, I cut white card stock and using the small kit I assembled I was ready to get under way. I printed my photos at 2x2 and then using the scrap pieces from my white card stock, I matted my pictures.

My journaling is going to be added to the back of each page and since I'm leaning towards typing it, I'll do that when I can make the most of filling up a sheet of paper. I'm posting my photos on Instagram, so my journaling is there and I don't have to worry about forgetting anything.

If you feel like jumping in with My Thankful 30 or creating any sort of gratitude project this month, let me know, I'd love to see what you make!

Harriet and my DD Title Page

If you follow Brandi Kincaid or me on Instagram, then you might have seen Harriet the Hippo pop in from time to time. She's making her first appearance on mini flair dressed in her holiday finest and has brought several of her friends with her. To top it off, Brandi has generously provided a 6x8 digital printable that you'll receive in your email when you purchase any set of flair that has Harriet in it. (that email will come from craftylilgik(at)gmail(dot)com as soon as I begin to process your order, so if you don't receive it within 24 hours, let me know) Along with that very special treat, there are now 3 different color variations of each doodle set. One last bit of fun news is that several packs of mini flair include 7 pieces for the price of 6 or 4 pieces for the price of 3.

Brandi has designed a mega Thanksgiving pack, winter and Christmas themes, and a darling New Year's Eve set. I've also updated the shop with a Santa themed set, snowflakes, a new month set, a black and white AND/& set, and if you're selecting a word for 2016 regardless of if you participate with Ali Edwards' One Little Word® or not, it will be perfect for documenting your goals.

I'm not rushing through November, but I did create the title page for my December Daily® album. I have nothing else figured out, and I actually don't even have my 6x8 album purchased. Guess I need to pick one out soon! I knew I wanted to make a tree shape using flair and other embellishments, but when I saw how perfectly the acrylic JOY piece fit, I left out any other little bits and pieces. To add a touch of sparkle, I tied a bow from gold sewing thread and used a tiny piece of a glue dot to hold it in place.

Head over to Brandi's blog to view the awesome project that she's made with the new releases in the shop now. Today is also the last day to pick up any of her previous designs before they are retired. Happy shopping and I'd love to see what you make, so please tag me on IG @lilgik, @feedyourcraft, or with #feedyourcraft. I'm always blown away by what I see you creative folks making and I'm honored to have a place on your projects. :)

My Thankful 30 {2015}

Boy, the first of November sure came about quickly! I've known for quite some time that I wanted to once again take the month of November and focus on what I am thankful for. This is something that I did in 2013 and 2014 and am looking forward to keeping the tradition going.

I'm going to be working from the list of prompts I created my first year and you'll be seeing my photos pop up on Instagram from time to time under the hashtag #mythankful30. I hope that you can join in whether it be with just photo each day along with your words or to turn it into a complete memory keeping project. Be sure to use the hashtag so that I can see what you're up to!

I've assembled a very small kit of items and just need to pick out an album. I think I might get a WRMK 4x4 album, they're just so cute. If you'd like to see my previous albums, you can view 2013 here, 2014 here, and all blog posts are under the category #mythankful30 in the column to the right. And of course, you can download my free printable list of daily prompts here.

Happy November and I hope that you have time to slow down and cherish all the moments that you're thankful for this month!
