Chicago Mini Pt.1

Things have been busy, busy and so I'm going to try and set aside a little bit of time each day to get crafty with help from Kellie Winnell and Jessica Upton and their #31minutesin31days. The premise is simple, grab some photos, a mini album, and carve out time each day in October to craft. You can read more about it on Kellie's blog and Jessica's blog and they've each been posting on Instagram.

I decided to get my photos from our trip to Chicago scrapped in a mini book and I'm only pulling supplies from my stash. Since my assembled kit is pretty bold, I printed all of my pictures in black and white.

My first page is a 4x6 printable that I backed with patterned paper and added a die cut, stamped image and 3x3 card to. Facing that is a 4x6 photo from the view outside of the 94th floor of the John Hancock building. I added bronze letter stickers to my photo, but only because they fit so perfectly.

It's always worked best for me to have a formula when I make a mini and so I knew deciding that was priority one before cutting and sticking. All of the pages that follow will be in the same style, an embellished 4x6 page and then a clear 4x6 piece of transparency that has a 3x3 photo on each side. The first of these pages is about our flight into Chicago. I printed my journaling on a digital 3x4 card and then added a scrap of paper and a mini flair.

The next page was about picking up some caffeinated beverages for us all because we had plenty of fun planned well into the night. I used a 1-1/2" circle punch and cut out a few pieces of the paper coffee cup wrapper to use as embellishment. I added a stamped image, some more punched circles, and typed journaling on strips of paper.

Here's a better look at the page on the left without anything behind it. If you want to see individual pictures, you can find them in my personal gallery, here.

I'm excited to spend some more time on this and if you want to join in, it's not too late!

  2. Loving the yellow, blue, black and gold with your photos, Elise. The gold letters on your skyline photo look like they were made for that spot.
