Conversations with Myself

I'm so excited that Mandy of Turquoise Avenue has started back up on her weekly photo and journal prompts because they push me to record stories in a different perspective than what I might have come up with.

Last week, the prompt was conversations and since I've already documented letters to the hubs, myself, and texting conversations, I thought it would be the perfect way to document conversations with myself. This was something I'd touched on in my Week in the Life album, but wanted to expand on.

Ever since my sister and I began our weight loss challenge in early June, it's been a major focus in my everyday routine to change my eating habits, exercise, record my food and health stats in my Traveler's Notebook, and of course, battle with myself to keep going on the days when I don't want to.

For my layout, my main focal point was my journaling about the little talks I've had with myself over the past few months. Using a word processing program, I typed my journaling, then inserted speech bubbles for the text to wrap around, and printed it on 8.5x11 white card stock. Then I removed the journaling, typed inside the speech bubbles and printed it again. I cut out those elements and used pop dots to raise them off the page. I layered that onto my background paper, added die cuts, small paper strips, sequins, and mist droplets and that was that.

If you're looking for inspiration for getting your stories recorded, make sure to visit Mandy and check out her weekly prompts, a new one is posted every Sunday. This week the topic is senses which would be perfect for documenting the arrival of fall.

  1. I love this. These types of layouts are so important. I did one months ago following Ali Edwards' blog post, Do You See What I See?. It was actually very therapeutic. Anyway, the speech bubbles up on the page like that looks awesome. Great work. Michelle t

  2. This is beautiful! I love that you put a whole new spin on it and wrote about yourself! In addition, I'm over the moon for those little convo bubble's, they're so cute!

  3. I love how you added those speech bubbles, really is a fun element to the typed page. Hoping your weight loss challenge is going well.

  4. Loving the speech bubbles and your take on this challenge, Elise. You can do it! I know how hard "those" days are when you just don't feel like it. Been there. LOL! Just the other day, my yoga teacher said something that stuck with me. When you're feeling unmotivated, you are only one breath away from doing something. It's your choice. OK, I'll get off of my soapbox now. Feeling chatty. LOL! :)

  5. this is such a great idea Elise. I wonder if doing something like this would help me. The conversations i have with myself usually end up it!!!

  6. Such a beautiful LO Elise! I love how you recorded conversations with yourself to keep going. So good. Definitely going to check out Mandy's post as well :)

  7. The journaling with the inserted and raised speech bubbles is genius!!! But I really love everything here, the white space, the title, all of it is so eye-pleasing!

  8. Oh my goodness, I love your page!
I like the soft colours as it focuses on the photo of yourself.
I also love that you popped up the speech bubbles…so fun.

Thank you so much for taking your time to comment, I truly appreciate all your kind words!
