Little Summer Joy

I jumped in with both feet to join Julie Gagen and Jen Lake of Little Paper Projects and their latest free memory keeping project called #LittleSummerJOY, but once I decided I would participate, I began to wonder what would I document. Then I remembered that one of the great things about memory keeping is that these projects are easily adaptable to fit any lifestyle. We're not taking a summer vacation, we won't be spending time at the pool, or several other typical summer activities and that's ok.

As I sat down to write my summer manifesto, I focused on things we would normally do and since they're occurring over the summer, ta-dah, I had content for my mini book. My goal is to create a simple mini that captures some of our little joys this summer. I've found that projects like this help me to slow down and focus on time for myself, time for us, and various outings, whether new or old familiars.

As soon as I saw the latest digital release from One Little Bird, I knew that was what my supplies would be centered around. I picked up the Scoop papers, journal cards, and elements and had fun making my own 4x4 cards and die cuts to use in a WRMK 4x4 album. Then I gathered some Crate Paper {Poolside} papers, labels, enamel shapes, letter stickers, word and phrase strips, and mini flair. I'll also be using my stamps, sewing machine, and hopefully my Fuse tool that hasn't seen hardly any action.

While this project launched on July 6th, don't fret if you want to jump in now. One prompt is being provided each week through August 10th all with the focus of finding and recording your joy over the summer season.

  2. It's beautiful. I love this idea and I'll go check it out. I used a WRMK 4x4 for Day In The Life, and will use another one for my December (2014) Stories project. I love these albums, they are awesome. Have fun, and I look forward to seeing more.

I love that you are capturing the everyday of your summer.
We have only been able to go on one summer vacation, and I like the idea of documenting your summer even if there isn't a big trip in the works.

  10. Fantastic, Elise! WE don't have any big plans for the summer, either, so I'm doing the same thing you are in documenting the joy in the regular things. My goal is to have one for each day.
