Our Northeastern Adventure Pt. 6

I'm still dealing with class overload and so there has been no shortage of inspiration. The class, Make It Big by Paige Evans has just wrapped up and the last lesson was about big backgrounds. In it I got to see how she puts together one of her intricate layouts. I'd been wanting to try this technique and while time consuming, it does make for a dramatic effect.

I really like the design Paige has used for a class offered at Craftsy called Silhouette Savvy and that was my starting point for my layout. Not having taken that class or owning a Silhouette, the hubs helped me to create a design that I could cut with my Cricut Explore.

Once that was done I went through all of the papers that I'd assembled for these vacation photos and got started piecing them all together. My only embellishments once the background was complete were some die cuts that I layered to help (I hope) keep my photo from looking like it was just slapped on top. I'm looking forward to trying this technique again in the future as I've seen many beautiful ideas.

I hope to see you back on Wednesday, I'll be sharing a shop update and projects featuring new designs from Brandi Kincaid. In the meantime, here's a little sneak and if you're on Instagram, head to my feed to enter to win a 50% off coupon to my shop for you and a friend. Hurry, you only have until noon on June 30th to enter!

  2. Your background cut file is beautiful. Wow, really packs visual punch, it's stunning. The photo is awesome too. I especially think the patterned paper you chose for all the spots there are perfect. Really love the woodgrain type papers. Great layout, and looking forward to what's coming to your shop.
