2015: The Year of More
I've been doing a lot of thinking about what I would like to accomplish creatively in 2015 and how I want to preserve my memories. The start of a new year is a great platform to set goals and make changes and I have several ideas that I'm excited to put into effect. I think they will bring about a year full of growth and discovery.
The first major adjustment is going to be introducing more mixed media and different artistic techniques to my projects. That includes on layouts as well as keeping an art journal. I recently discovered France Papillon on YouTube and have also been inspired by blog friend, Tracy at Tracy's Treasures and her recent posts about art journaling. Here's the first page I made while awaiting the arrival of new goodies.
You can see it's about the word that I've chosen for 2015, more. I like how broad and general the word is, but I also like the opposite, that less is more. So there will be things like more creativity, reading, cooking, laughing, helping others, adventures, movement, and smiles and less things like clutter, negativity, and bad foods. If you're not familiar with One Little Word, be sure to head to Ali Edwards' blog and read all about it.
New in the shop are two sets of customizable mini flair to add a little flourish to your One Little Word projects. You can find the details here on how to order them, and now through January 6th, you can take 15% off your entire order with the code NEWYEAR15.
I'm also going to be reducing the size of my projects to fit into the new 9x12 Handbooks being released early this year by Studio Calico. The albums will be a welcome space saver!
I of course want to continue using my stash and keep it at a small amount. I work best not only with limited supplies, but also by being able to purchase new items regularly. I have gone back to only subscribing to the SC Project Life kit and while I will still do it monthly, I'm considering other format changes.
As far as other hobbies, I'm happy to say I completed an entire calendar year of my photo a day challenge, that's my last photo for it above. It was a tremendous learning experience and a little bittersweet to be putting it behind me, but I'll still be learning to better use my new camera to improve my photography skills.
I was turned on to a reading challenge that was put together by Popsugar and I'm hoping to make it through reading 52 books. It's going to be tough, since I only managed to read 33 books in 2014.
So there's my manifesto for 2015. Sorry for the lengthy post, you deserve a cookie for making it through my ramblings! Wishing you happy and crafty new year filled with many fantastic moments!
