Pause in December {2014}

I had a few different ideas for what I wanted my last project of the year to be for focusing on my word, but in the end I decided to make a modified Thankful mini album. I say modified because it's not like last year's where I documented each day in November. I had recently been over at the Elle's Studio blog and gallery and was super inspired by Jenny Evans and her Hello mini book and knew that was the direction I wanted to go in.

Since I had all of the supplies from when I'd originally planned to make a Thankful album, I was ready to go once I printed some of my favorite photos from November. They may just look like pretty pictures, but they have a lot of meaning behind them and I'm grateful for what each of them represents. Some shots from our home and of the hubs and our Pound Cake, some taken at local spots where I'm continuously inspired, and night photography practice that the hubs goes with me and helps me to learn more.

I cut white card stock into 3.25"x4.25" rectangles and then picked a bunch of papers from the Maggie Holmes {Open Book} 6"x6" paper pad to cut into 3"x4" cards. Then it was just a matter of selecting some embellishments to go on each one. I used plenty from {Open Book}, some die cut leaves, my free Thankful printables, one of my Hello Fall mini flair, sequins, wood dots and stars, and cream letter stickers from Elle's Studio.

I really enjoyed having a word to focus on throughout the year. I felt that I could interpret it in many different ways to achieve a variety of goals. Goals such as donating time, money, and household items, trying to be more patient, spending more time with family and friends, and making time to take care of myself.

I'm undecided about focusing on a word for next year. I've thought about continuing with this same word, picking a new word and actually participating in the workshop with Ali Edwards, or not doing it at all. There are some other projects that I'd like to have a go at next year, so we'll see. :)

Before I go, here's how my jar(s) of stars shaped up. I loved having something tangible to remind me of my word!
