Photo Op

I've had these two photos sitting on my desk with a couple of papers for about a month. I was beginning to think I wasn't going to wind up scrapbooking them. That doesn't often happen, because I only print the photos that I'm going to use, but there they sat, often having other items piled on top.

All that changed when I read this blog post over at Basic Grey where they were showing off an upcoming collection called Vivienne. While this style of page design isn't new, I haven't had a go at it and seeing Nicole's page was the push I needed to not only try this, but to also get these photos scrapbooked. (Credit goes to the hubs for the fun long exposure photo.)

To make it easier on myself, I cut out a square to fit inside of the punched 1-1/2" circles. I then folded two opposing sides up. I did this with several of them and then used my WRMK envelope punch board to score the remaining sides so they could be folded.

I opted not to machine stitch them down because my circles turned squares weren't perfect and I felt the stitching would accentuate that. I will definitely give this another go and maybe will brave sewing then.

I used a mixture of papers from Studio Calico, My Mind's Eye {Now and Then}, October Afternoon {Travel Girl}, and of course, Basic Grey {Carte Postale}. Since there was a lot going on, I only added a few Studio Calico gold star sequins and die cut my title using Mama Elephant's Inline Letters. Love those dies!

  10. Elise, this is stunning!! Fantastic technique. I love how there are some missing and the stars were the perfect finishing touch. Is this the Capital Wheel at National Harbor?? Hubby and I stayed in that area when we went to a pharmacy convention.

I really like the gaps in the circles and the little stars you added in the blanks.
I tried to make a holiday ball with these circles, but I didn't get them perfect, like how you made your perfect :)
