Happy New Year

First off, I want to wish you a very Happy New Year and I hope 2014 is filled with much joy, laughter, and love! I appreciate the time you take to stop by, read, and leave such kind comments and love that I have met so many wonderful people here and on Instagram.

Last week I shared the word that I've selected to focus on in the coming year and snippets of the layout that was in progress. I'll tell you, the word came much easier!

It was a prompt from my photo a day earlier in December and it resonated so much with me. I found myself trying something new that I had been putting off for no reason. I sent a text to the hubs to let him know I was thinking about him. I enjoyed a rare warm winter day while running errands, and just found myself being more mindful of my actions and surroundings. It was such a good feeling and I knew I wanted to make that a more permanent part of every day.

This layout sat on my desk for several days, and every so often I would rearrange items, add things, move it all around again, and then let it sit some more. I knew what was bothering me, but was stubborn to changing it. I finally did, retyping the text to be printed on vellum to replace the white cardstock I'd originally used. Once that was done, it all came together in a flash.

The papers I used are from the Carta Bella {Wildflower} collection, I hand cut letters, then used watercolors on them, and of course added some stitching. The large wood veneer numbers are from the December OHDEERME! kit that I painted with metallic gold acrylic paint, then drybrushed with white acrylic paint.

Thanks again for visiting, encouraging, and just being plain awesome! I'm looking forward to seeing what crafty endeavors you have in store for 2014!
