Welcoming 2014 with a Pause

There was some talk on a couple of scrapbook forums about taking Ali Edward's workshop for One Little Word. I had been waiting for registration to open so that I could sign up, but then began to second guess my decision.

While the price is reasonable and there were people that really enjoyed it in the past, I couldn't bring myself to hit the "buy" button. In the end I decided that while I had a word, I would not participate in her class, rather develop my own way to incorporate focusing on my word in 2014.

I don't have all the details ironed out about how I will take on this journey, I just know there will be something done each month to put to paper my photos and stories. I think this is a good alternative to making resolutions, and I know that taking time to pause will have an immense benefit to my life, actions, and decisions.

I'm working on a layout for the beginning of this project that outlines what my word means to me and once it's complete, I'll share it.

Do you participate in carrying a word through the year?

  1. LOVING your word for 2014. I think I am going with thrive, it's Ali's word too, but when I hear her discussing it on PRT it is so what I want to do this next year, but I just couldn't find the write word. Also, what is your first name?

  4. I love your word too. I signed up for the class last year but didn't really keep up. Come to find out I was missing out on stuff like the private fb group. I think doing it on your own is a great idea!

    1. Thanks, and yup, I'm not on fb, so I'd miss out on the ability to chat with other OLW doers.

  6. Love your idea, I am not one to make resolutions, I feel that if you want to do something than you need to focus on that and just try to do it. No guilt for breaking resolutions for me. I will enjoy seeing how you take your word on a journey and incorporate it in your creative endeavors.

  8. I had a word one year, but didn't take the class.
This year if I had to pick a word for me to follow this year it would be "unprocrastinate" Yeah thats not a real word, but so applies to me ;)
You picked a great word and like your cover page.
