What's in a Name?

This concept for the flowers on this layout came from a couple of different places. I'm not sure what rabbit hole I fell down that landed me at the super fun blog, Craft and Repeat, but I'm glad I did. She recently made cute washi tape flowers (among other items) and while I admired them, I had no idea I'd be making one so soon.

There was a recent forum post over at Two Peas in a Bucket, where the topic of loving Project Life (PL) products, but not actually doing PL, was brought up. It really resonated with me, because I've recently purchased two core kits with the plan of doing it next year. I've seen many crafty gals use PL products for other things, and decided to put them to use sooner than later.

I wanted to make a large flower from a PL card cut in half and scraps from the 6x6 paper I used to mat my picture. I wound up tearing one of the petals a little, so made the washi tape flower to cover up the tiny tear. I made my flowers with 4 petals unlike the 3 shown and my method was slightly different, but the outcome was the same, cute, cute, cute!

So those two things were the driving force behind making my own embellishments. Do you ever have random ideas come together to create paper magic?
