Make it Messy

Quite a few times I have picked up this picture to scrapbook, only to not feel inspired by my paper choice, and back to the folder it went. I love this picture, and while it wasn't taken anywhere special, the story behind the whole day is. It was taken on our honeymoon trip and since that album is done, I decided against journaling this particular photo.

I was inspired by Shimelle's most recent guest designer, Missy Whidden, to make a messy background. I gathered my supplies as directed and then got down to business. While I was painting my first layer, I instantly knew what photo I wanted to use. I only have a few stamp sets, so chose one I thought went well, and opted not to use washi tape, instead continuing my experimentation with sequins.  Wanting to provide some separation of the photo from the background, I used a few journaling cards to make a mat.

I am really happy with the finished layout, and look forward experimenting with paint. Do you like to get your hands dirty, or do you prefer a more clean, structured look?

  8. Very nice! It always feels good when you finally find the right page for a photo. :)

I think I'm mostly a clean scrapper but I often do use mist and paint on my LOs and I'm not afraid to get messy and a big way.
